Birth Time Rectification (BTR)

Method 1: Birth Time Rectification (BTR) using KP System

Birth Time Rectification (BTR) Rules

Step: 1 Ruling Planets Birth Time

  • Ascendant Sign Lord:
  • Ascendant Star-Lord:
  • Ascendant Sub Lord:
  • Moon Sign Lord:
  • Moon Star Lord:
  • Moon Sub Lord:
  • Day Lord:

Step: 2 Ruling Planets Current Time

  • Ascendant Sign Lord:
  • Ascendant Star-Lord:
  • Ascendant Sub Lord:
  • Moon Sign Lord:
  • Moon Star Lord:
  • Moon Sub Lord:
  • Day Lord: MER

Time of Rectification (Astrologer)

  1. Note Down RP’s of Birth Time
  2. Note Down RP’s of Current Time
  3. Match the RP’s of Step-1 with the RP’s of Step-2 (Minimum 50% RP’s Should Match)
  4. The RP’s of Ascendent at Step-1 should match the RP’s if Moon of Step-2 (Minimum 1 should match)
  5. The RP’s of Ascendent at Step-2 should match the RP’s if Moon of Step-1 (Minimum 1 should match)
  6. After that, we do a DNA test. The RP’s of 1’s house should match with RP’s of the 4th House (Mother), and the RP’s of 1’s house should match with RP’s of the 9th House (Father)
  7. Moon Sub Sub Lord (Pratyantar Dasha) should make a connection with Ascendent and placement in Ascendent/ Navmasha.

Method 2: Birth Time Rectification (BTR) using the Ruling Planets (RP) method

Note the Ruling Planets at the time of judgment (when the astrologer has taken up or commenced the rectification of the birth chart). Ruling planets are –

  • 1. Day lord (DL)
  • 2. Moon Sign lord (MSL)
  • 3. Moon Star-lord (MNL)
  • 4. Ascendant Sign lord (ASL)
  • 5. Ascendant Star lord (ANL)

These five ruling planets should be among Ascendant Sign Lord, Ascendant Star-Lord and Ascendant Sub-lord in the birth chart of the native. If the Ruling Planets at the time of judgment are not matching with the Ascendant Sign Lord, Ascendant Star-Lord, and Ascendant Sub lord in the native’s birth chart, it means the birth time provided to the astrologer is not correct and requires rectification.

The Day Lord is taken as per the Hindu day system, which starts from Sunrise and ends on the next sunrise. It is NOT calculated from 12 O’Clock Midnight to the next 12 O’Clock midnight. For example, if somebody were born on February 11, 2011, at 4:00 AM in Hong Kong, it would be Thursday and NOT Friday because 4:00 AM was before sunrise on February 11, 2011.

If Rahu or Ketu are acting as agents to any of the ruling planets at the time of judgment, those will also be included as ruling planets. For example, if any node (Rahu or Ketu) is in conjunction with or receiving an aspect from any of the ruling planets, or if it occupies the sign owned by the ruling planet, the node should be included in the list of the ruling planets.

In case we need fewer ruling planets, ruling planets in the star or sub of retrograde planets can be omitted.

Among the ruling planets, Ascendant Star-Lord, Ascendant Sign lord, Moon’s Star-Lord, Moon’s Sign lord and the Day Lord are taken in order of strength, i.e. Ascendant Star-Lord is the most powerful ruling planet and Day lord is the least powerful. This strength is useful when we select a few among all the ruling planets.
